As you walk in a creek or deep mud your pants won't get soaked/muddy and weigh you down, unless you are in something deeper than 16". Also, if you go feet first in a tunnel, mud/dirt won't go up the inside of your legs.

I think because it can take two 123's or one 18650 that it doesn’t have any voltage protection. Therefore my 18650 shut its self off and would not come back on until it was recharged. This is ok as long as the battery protection circuit works properly.

I frequently hear climbers say "rappelling is the most dangerous part of climbing." Seems they may be correct, especially with inadequate training, poor technique, and a desire to let go of the rope. Very interesting too that the Autobloc / French wrap failed to grip on the wet rope. Thankfully he was wearing a HELMET which may have saved his life. I read all published accident reports and do not remember anyone losing control on a climb. I talk to non cavers about rappelling and they do not understand when I say I am more concerned on rappel than on climbs.

I see he was also not leaning back on his harness and letting gravity take him down. He was standing vertical on slick rock, and downclimbing while rappelling. Thats always a recipe for disaster. Lean back, lean back, lean back.

I'm saddened to report that the following grottos have been inactivated for non-compliance of NSS policy. They failed to submit the IO Annual Report for 2011 which was due Jan 31, 2012. Multiple emails and a letter were not answered. I have to assume that they are no longer active organizations.

The little while longer is only a few minutes. SD6 shuts off the same. As far as I know there is no built in circuitry like the zebras, to protect the batteries from being over depleted. Anyway, the zebra steps down intensity till its dead, so it does give you fair warning.

After many months I was able to use my new SD nw underground. I love it. I use the SD and the Zebralight SC600w (hand held). Great combo.
